Salesforce.com implementing SOA

Salesforce.com is taking the concept of SOA to new heights. As an agile organization that must meet the needs of a diverse customer population, Salesforce.com has implemented SOA for developing business applications, managing user collaboration, and a Salesforce API for custom development. Salesforce.com will deliver their SOA platform on the same subscription-based services used by their customer base today, allowing customers to create and integrate their own business applications on-demand.

My company has API through SalesForce.com that connects our CMS software and saleforce.com to our clients. Companies need to have their website go through intense security mesasures for saleforce to allow this. Pretty interesting.

Kevin, our sales force has been working on an enterprise-wide solution to consilidate property based systems and our mainframe applications for over 6 years. They really should scrap the project since it is way over the time limit and their ability to stay ahead of the competition. They should really take a look at this since our integrators are not!

Are they using this for themselves, or are they marketing this to others? Both?

They are marketing to others - but I'm sure use their own software in-house.
